A little over a year and a half ago I stopped watching TV on any sort of regular basis and turned to online videos, movies, doco's ect. Now I'll only catch a glimpse of regular TV from time to time, the content of which I question critically. In a weird way, I find the content mildly amusing. It seems to be riddled with a ridiculous amount of finger pointing, superficiality and childish claims/conclusions.
It seems like the way people think now is very similar to the celebrity BS that floods our media. Unfortunately, it has now spilled over into the political realm. This is why I think people are often too quick to judge without hearing, or even considering, all sides to the story.
The controlled and filtered 'communal media' format is powerful tool of communication, which can greatly influence beliefs of the 'not-so-critical' person. If so, could it be said that the media is tool capable of controlling the belief's of a larger portion of society?
Actually it's from The Age, couldn't imagine anything this sensible in the Australian!
